It probably doesn't help that I've not been feeling good lately, unfortunately morning sickness has kicked in full swing! I was hoping I would be one of those lucky people who just seems to breeze through the first trimester... oh well! :) I have nausea and fatigue pretty much all day long, and unfortunately my face is breaking out really bad... I'm hoping one of these days it will turn into the "glow" of pregnancy! Or is that just sweat?! :)
Although I'm almost 8 weeks already (crazy!), I didn't want you to miss all the developments of week 7, as read from What to Expect when You're Expecing:
Here's an amazing fact about the baby right now: he or she is 10,000 times bigger now than at conception--about the size of a blueberry. A lot of that growth is concentrated on the head (new brain cells are being generated at the rate of 100 cells per minute). The baby's mouth and tongue are forming this week and so are his or her arm and leg buds, which are beginning to sprout into paddle-like appendages and to divide into hand, arm, and shoulder segments--and leg, knee, and foot segments. Also in place now are the baby's kidneys, and they're poised to begin their important work of waste management (i.e. urine production and excretion). At least we don't have to worry about dirty diapers yet! :)
Kyle had a good time at the Highland Games this weekend, he said it was a huge event! My dad went all day Saturday and they got to meet up for a while, enjoying the music and all the vendors. I decided to do a girl's day with my mom and sister, and we did lunch and pedicures before my favorite part of the day... naptime! :) I also got to see my best friend Elena and cousin Carissa and hubby Chris, so all in all it was a great weekend!
Sorry if this is weird, I got this off the net and I think it's amazing... this is a baby at 8 weeks! Hard to imagine that something that looks like that is growing inside my little uterus! :)Kyle has another reenactment this weekend, but I'm going to the Sweet Home Jamboree with my mom-in-law Sue! I've never been, but I'm really excited... it's a weekend of music that takes place in Sweet Home, OR (which is east of Albany) and we're going to camp and relax, I can't wait! It's country music, some of the headliners are Tim McGraw, Leann Rimes and Montgomery Gentry, and a bunch of people I haven't heard of... but I'm sure I'll enjoy! I promise I'll have pictures this time!
P.S. Congratulations Bryan and Lindsey!! :)

Thanks! =)
ReplyDeleteSorry, honey, that you are having the morning sickness and heat come at the same time. Just hang in there, and think of the "reward" in March! We love you and will add your tummy to our prayers. Grandma and Grnadpa C
ReplyDeleteYou sure we didn't send you to medical school? You may have missed another calling! Love you very much and remember, morning sickness is a positive--means lots of good baby sustaining hormones are doing their jobs!
ReplyDeleteAnd Bryan and Lindsey--if you see this--
CONGRATS--we love the two of you too!
Sorry to hear you are in full fledge morning sickness. Have you tried soda crackers? They worked for me many many years ago. We are really enjoying your lessons on pregancy didn't know this much with my own kids.We love you all so much and hope to see you soon. G&G Book
ReplyDeleteDoes Kyle's car have AC? If so, all it takes is a quick swap of the keys and your AC is fixed. :)
ReplyDeleteThings my friends recommend for morning sickness: Coke, ginger ale, sucking pepperming/lemon/or ginger candies (each one worked for a different person), eating soda crackers BEFORE sitting up/getting out of bed, those motion sickness wristbands, and smelling peppermint oils.
Of course, each person recommended something entirely different... but maybe something will work for you!
Oh, and I'm going to be in Portland this weekend... too bad you're going to be gone!
Soda crackers and water before you even lift your head off the pillow. Once you start the nasty process of getting out of bed, there's no going back.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, Carissa's A/C went out at the peak of the summer heat and it took two weeks to get the new part because her car was a "crossbreed" (Toyota/Chevy). Good luck with that. Meanwhile, drive fast between air-conditioned destinations.
I've been putting one the big plastic freezy-thingy that goes in our cooler behind my back and one on my stomach when I sit for the evening.
Bedtime finds another freezy-thingy under my pillow. However, if it gets out from under my pillow for some reason, the cat claims it and good luck getting it back.
Hang in your little love-cave and stay cool!
Thank you everyone for all the suggestions for morning sickness! I appreciate your caring and support. I just had pancakes with lots of syrup for dinner! I've found that I just need to eat whatever I'm craving, which changes every day... some days salty, some days sweet, it's so unpredictable! Starchy crackers have definitely been helpful though...
ReplyDeleteTry and stay cool this weekend! :)
My friend at work stops at the grocery store every morning and buys whatever sounds good for breakfast/lunch that day. Score for ME because the next day she can't stand said food and I get to eat the leftovers! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWait - I was just reading the comments. MOM did you really have to use the words "love cave"?
